How to test website welcome emails and contact-form replies

Updated October 11, 2026 · TossMyMail

You built a small website. Now you want to check if its emails arrive. You do not want each test to fill your own inbox.

A temporary address gives you a fresh place to look. Use it for your own site or a site you have permission to test.

What can you check?

Run one small test

  1. Open TossMyMail and copy the address.
  2. Use it in your site’s test form.
  3. Return to the inbox and wait for the next check.
  4. Read the sender, subject, and text.
  5. Check the code or link. Does it do what you expect?

Use made-up details in the form. Keep real customer data out of test emails.

Look past “it arrived”

Is the subject clear? Does the email say what to do next? Is the link right? If you ask for a new code, does your site handle the old one as you intend?

Write down what you tried and what happened. A short checklist makes the next test easier.

Know this tool’s limits

TossMyMail shows plain text, not the full email design. It does not show attachments. An inbox holds up to 100 messages. Mail over 1 MB is rejected.

It is for small manual checks. Use a dedicated email test tool for layout checks, large test runs, and tests that need to run on their own.

Give yourself enough time

Keep the tab open. Add time before the inbox ends if needed. You can use it for up to 30 minutes in all. Save your notes before you leave.

Copy this test checklist

Example test note

“Contact form, test site, 14:00. Success page shown. Email seen at the 14:00:15 inbox check. Sender and subject correct. Help link opens the right page.”

This is the time you saw the email, not an exact measure of delivery speed. TossMyMail checks every 15 seconds while the tab is visible.

If the form works but no email arrives

Check your app’s sending logs first. Did it queue the email? Did the email service reject it? Confirm the recipient and include a plain-text body. One successful test does not prove that all mail providers will accept your messages.

For codes, resend rules, and old links, use the separate email verification test checklist.
